I had no idea, thanks. Still have a lot to learn, lol.
For anyone using the stock cooler fans that come with the 3900x (particularly if you are experiencing overheating issues), did you move the fan speed switch from Low (default, out of the box) to High?
Thanks to @shazbot for pointing this out to me
Hey! So I try to flash the SFXOS on a USB and it keeps on failing??
What sort of usb stick you using? It maybe a stick issue.
Does it give a specific error?
Is it big enough?
I am using a 32gb gorilla it worked fine before then one of my rigs just quit so i tried to reflash the SFXOS and it would flash and then would say failed.
Iād by either testing the usb stick or try another.
So I downloaded the most recent balenaetcher and it worked flawlessly
Will mining through the Safex OS give a better Hash rate than the one click miner?
I believe that they will be very very similar, the only advantage to the sfxos will be that the computer doesnāt need to run a GUI so there may be some resources savings there, but I doubt it is much.
Can someone walk me through this process pleaseā¦ Had a rig go offline, and even following this process, I am able to get it online with the screen sesh, but nothing will save so I can power off, and fire up from flash drive again. Rig is showing up on angry scanner; am able to log in to ip and edit wallet address, but the submit button seems to work on 1 out of 10 attempts, if that. Been through numerous flash/re-flash attempts with failure being the most common outcome. Sometimes it even seems to look like it saved everything, but itās obviously not now that I have sshāed in and verified that it has notā¦ Used to be cut and dry, but now with the submit function not being reliable, kinda stuck as to how to proceed without a sudo start every timeā¦
Iāve never used SFXOS, but I do recall someone saying to pull the battery on the mobo to reset cmos, and then start over.
thanks sloth, Iāll try that and report. Iāve ruled out all other fixes. always leading me to flash, and now into submission not sticking.
Been fucking my face on this for almost a weekā¦ Pulled battery out and now Iām getting thisā¦
Strange part is, I have a bootable version of linux mint which I am able to fire up at will, and surf the internet. So all hardware seems to be functioning flawlessly outside of the sfxos arenaā¦ As soon as I try any of my sfxos thumb drives ( even tried pulling a working thumb out of another miner and same) Last night I tried downloading/flashing two different linked files and brand new flashesā¦ same. Even tried cloning an entire working drive, which Iāve had success with in the past, same.
My next last ditch effort will be to install an ssd, and see if I can get xmrig going on this rig. If successfulā¦ figure out how to make it bootable into xmrig and donāt look back! If anyone has any insight as to what the face fuck is going on here lol Iām dying! Thank you for your time! Peace
Update: SSD arrived, plugged in, installed linux/xmrig softwareā¦ Started xmrig: Rig went online immediately. @aussiesloth Iām officially team XMRIG now. Thank you for all of your help along the way! This issue with sfxos was repeating for me, with virtually all of my rigs over the past few months anytime I lost power, and still donāt understand where the hang up is, so had to go another route. Would love to know if thereās any tweaks I can/need to do with xmrig that you have found helpful. XMP profile already set in BIOS, Huge pages enabled. Do I need to enable 1GB pages too? Thank you for your time! Peace
great news, stoked to see support for miners like this
Well done!! ~13.5kH/s is exactly what my rigs show as Max when XMP is set and both RAM sticks are installed correctly? It looks like you nailed it. I have always preferred doing it that way for the ease of restarting after power failure (sometime the power failure does corrupt the OS and it needs a reinstall) and for updating xmrig as and when I choose.
Sweet! Thanks for confirmation. I was able to find 128gb M.2 ssdās on eBay for $14 that fit easily into the asrock setup. Not too far off from price point of a good flash drive super fast download and startup speeds. Also presuming having a local .json file will bulletproof online time going forward
